Cross-country holiday in the Ramsau trail paradise

Ramsau am Dachstein is one of the best-known cross-country regions in the Alps: around 220 kilometres of trails on the sunny high plateau, about 125 km classic and around 95 km for skating. Since the 1999 Nordic World Championships, the international elite has trained here regularly, on the Dachstein glacier trail even into autumn.

Your advantage with us: the entry to the trail network is only approx. 50 metres from Das Mühlrad. Clip in, glide off, enjoy the Dachstein views and store your equipment in the ski room afterwards.

In a short drive you reach the 4-mountain ski circuit with Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm: varied slopes, modern lifts and rustic ski huts within Ski amadé.

Right in Ramsau, the family-friendly Rittisberg invites you to relaxed ski days with children. And the Dachstein glacier cable car takes you into the high-alpine world with Sky Walk, suspension bridge, Stairway to Nothingness and Ice Palace in around 20 minutes from the house.

Winter hiking through snowy forests

A wide network of groomed winter hiking trails leads through snowy forests, across sunny plateau meadows and to viewpoints with Dachstein views. The starting point is, like the trails, just a few steps from the house.

Then back into the warmth: sauna and steam bath at Das Mühlrad, private sauna at Chalet H’eisl or infrared cabin at Appartement Eisl.

Tobogganing

Tobogganing fun on the Rittisberg

Right in Ramsau, the Rittisberg offers a natural toboggan run of around 3.5 km, on selected evenings even with illuminated night tobogganing. Toboggans can be rented on site.

Perfect for families: first toboggan down into the valley together, then build a snowman in our garden and let the evening wind down in your own holiday apartment.

On 11 and 12 December 2026, Helene Fischer opens the winter season with two concerts at the Planai Stadium in Schladming. Our accommodations are bookable from 10 December and an ideal quiet base for the event weekend.
